Oklahoma’s 2026 general post-judgment rate is 8.75%. Under 12 O.S. §727.1, a covered judgment begins at the certified rate for the calendar year in which it is rendered and reprices each January 1 while unpaid. Previously accrued post-judgment interest joins the interest-bearing balance, so the statutory path compounds annually rather than using simple interest.

How Oklahoma post-judgment interest works

Which rate applies

The 8.75% headline is the 2026 general §727.1 reference. A lawful contract rate controls when it is stated in the judgment and accrues in the same annual manner. Judgments against Oklahoma or its political subdivisions remain subject to the Governmental Tort Claims Act total-liability cap, and a more specific statute or judgment category can displace the general path.

When interest accrues

General post-judgment interest begins on the earlier of the expressly stated rendition date or filing with the court clerk. Allowed costs and attorney fees use their own earlier-of-pronouncement-or-filing trigger. The balance then reprices each January 1 at the certified rate for the new calendar year.

Compounding and rate lock

Section 727.1(C) expressly applies each new year’s rate to the judgment together with post-judgment interest previously accrued. That is annual compounding. StatuteRates keeps the calculator disabled because day count, partial-payment allocation, every special-law judgment, government-cap application, contract terms, and older statutory regimes are not calculator-complete.

Official history coverage

The official Oklahoma notices provide 41 post-judgment values from November 1, 1986 through 2026. Historical rows retain the values calculated under the statute then in effect; the current first-publication Wall Street Journal prime-plus-two formula is not back-applied to earlier years. Three 2013 legal periods are preserved as regime metadata, but because all publish the same 5.25% post-judgment rate they are not shown as false rate changes.
