Maryland’s general judgment interest rate is 10% per year under Md. Code, Courts and Judicial Proceedings §11-107(a). Residential-rent judgments use 6%, and delinquent property-tax judgments use the greater of 10% or the combined statutory interest-and-penalty rates. Section 11-106 supplies a separate rule for qualifying contracts for the loan of money.
How Maryland post-judgment interest works
Which rate applies
The 10% headline is the general §11-107(a) rate. Subsection (b) sets 6% for a money judgment for residential rent. Subsection (c) sets delinquent real- or personal-property tax judgments at the greater of 10% or the combined Tax–Property Article interest and penalty rates.
When interest accrues
For a qualifying action arising from a contract for the loan of money, §11-106 generally applies the contract rate to unpaid principal until the contract’s originally scheduled maturity. Mortgage and deed-of-trust loans are excluded, and student loans have an additional statutory caveat.
Compounding and rate lock
The statutory percentages and major branches are recorded, but the dataset does not yet model every day-count, compounding, maturity, payment-allocation, tax, rent, and loan-contract rule needed for a dependable Maryland calculator.
Official history coverage
The current statutory branch structure is recorded from the official Maryland General Assembly text. StatuteRates does not invent a historical timeline from the present codification when amendment-effective dates have not been independently digitized.
